6 groove vs. 4 groove barrel rifleing

Re: 6 groove vs. 4 groove barrel rifleing

Had both from good barrel makers and never noticed a difference. Get a good barrel. More important than the number of grooves.

You could always split the difference and get a 5R from Bartlein

Re: 6 groove vs. 4 groove barrel rifleing

Do a search on the hide about cleaning 5R rifling etc....and you will find a bunch of stuff but to briefly recap:

The number of grooves has no bearing on accuracy, barrel life or bullet stability etc.....

I quote Brian, " What's the difference? 2 grooves!"

Re: 6 groove vs. 4 groove barrel rifleing

I have had 3, 4, 5, and 6 groove barrels. It has absolutely no impact on accuracy. They all shoot great.

Little more velocity with factory ammo. Little less powder with handloads.
