Getting a rifle spun up in 6 Gay Tiger (joe exotic?) and have been seeing almost all loads recorded online have varget..are there any other powders to potentially use in this caliber or is this universally the one to use? I was fortunate enough to find H4350 recently in bulk but it burns slower than varget. What’s my options here?

H4895 has been great in my dasher. Lower pressure and higher velocity. Probably work the same in your GT. 31grs w/110 smk has done 2890 out of 28 inch criterion barrel w/ ultra 5 for well over 1200 rounds without needing any adjustment. Did start at 2920 but has continued to shoot well with 3sd over 30 rds. 2.51 oal. Don't know jump anymore but it started at .015 off.

Haven’t been able to find varget so I can’t speak to that. I’m assuming it works great.

H4895 was too fast for me with Hornady brass and 115 DTACs. Hit pressure at just over 31 gr and 2750.

H4350 was a little better. Got just under 2900 and 37 gr before I hit pressure. But my node was lower, around 2820.

I’ve had the best luck As far as speed and pressure goes with StaBall. 40.8 gr and 3000 was my pressure mark with a node right around 2950.

Shooting h4350 with the 115 at 2970
H4350 with the 107smk at 3060.
Rl16 with 107 at 3100
All Hornady brass
I am close to sea level as well

The 6 GT on Pg. 6, really , no one want to tinker or brag about how great this round is ? OR not that big a following ??

A ton of info on the 6GT FB page. SH dumped on it early and it hasn’t recovered yet. Plus is still on the newish side and there is not enough advantages for the BA/Dasher shooters to change.
For powders, there seems to be a split base on bullet weight. The lighter 100-109 gr loved BA/dasher powder (VG,4166) while the heavies like 6xc/6cm Powder (h4350,RL16,SB6.5)

I’ll add that I believe it’s a good choice if you are jumping into 6mm and reload. As stated above, I’m liking that it seems to shoot will multiple bullet/powder combinations so you are not stuck one.

All of this is just observation as I’m currently waiting on my PVA barrel to arrive.

I’ve just started testing out my new barrel I got last week, using 105 hybrids and 108 eld behind both h4350 and staball. 108 has a more consistent jump pattern in velocity for me with both powders. 105 accuracy was great but during ladder tests I would get random jumps in velocity. But this is first shots through it so take it with a grain of salt.

Has anyone tried IMR4064 with it? Just out of curiosity, i use 4064 for my 308, and I'm about half way through a jug. Maybe I should finish with 308... maybe not?

I'd like to shoot the 105 hornady match ot 108 eld-m

I would think it would work pretty well, I’d like to help you out but I literally just used the last of my 4064 in some 308 loads. Before everything went crazy I bought 16lbs of varget in an effort to consolidated the powder I keep on hand. I’m trying like hell to stick to my plan.

I started with R16 and it shot well but was very dirty. Switch to varget and burns much cleaner. A lot more of guys around here use 4350 but I haven’t tried it. I think Tom started out with R16 and switched to varget but not sure haven’t asked him what he’s shooting in his match. I shoot Tom Jacobs 103 vapor trails I would think 4350 would work better the heavier bullets like the 109 or 115. There’s a entire Facebook page on this with load data and oal lengths.
