600 and 880 yard event this weekend both ranges had a 6” spot target, One shot - one hit for score, no practice no warm ups.

I like this event and it seems to be catching on around here, it makes you have to think a little and take the shot. We had 13 mph winds gusting into the 20s at times with rain on and off.

On the 600 yard round we had 43 shooters and when all was done they brought the board up for ranking I was 4" off the spot at 8’oclock and finished 8th out of 43

On the 880 yard we had 29 shooters and the weather was still hammer’in us some, when all was done I ended up 4th out of 29 with being 2" off the dot at 9’oclock.

Both rounds I went a little strong on the wind hitting in the 8 and 9 range on the spot, the winds were coming from mainly 10 and shifting some at times to 9.

All in all I was happy with the finish, a lot of good info is shared here as I don’t have some of the military training and trigger time some of you have but I read and listen a lot here and I have picked up on some good info.

My equipment - 338 Lapua, Barrett 98B and a Vortex Razor 5x20x50 scope

Good equipment and mainly good knowledge goes a long ways

Thanks Folks

Re: 600 & 880 Yard event this weekend in WI.

I know I need to work on reading the wind better I figure both ranges I should have been a few mph slower on my windage adjustments , only trigger time behind the gun and dry firing will improve my accuracy and consistency.

Even though I felt I shot well, I realize I still had narrow misses on the intended target. But given the weather conditions in this match and having to get it all done in one shot I think I did ok.

If anyone knows of any matches comparable to Rayners match any place close to Wisconsin let me know
