Rifle Scopes 6500 / Conquest

Re: 6500 / Conquest

Conquest by a long shot in optics. I own a 6500 4.5-30 and it gets fuzzy after about 22-24. Every Conquest I have ever looked through had excellent resolution and clarity.

I can say the bushnell has good turrets that do what there supposed to, can't comment on the conquests....

Re: 6500 / Conquest

The Zeiss Conquest 3-12x56mm is the best low light Conquest Zeiss makes.

However, it is not a long range scope, as it has only 34" of adjustment. Of course low light and long range do not quite go together, so it's lack of adjustment range may not be a biggie.

The "best" low light scope I've ever used was the Schmidt und Bender fixed 8x56mm w/#7 Reticle.

There is no scope that Bushnell makes that comes close to the Zeiss or S&B, for low light situations.

But there are limitations with both the Zeiss and S&B. Nighttime hunting for Roe deer is popular in Europe, and these large scopes w/56mm objectives have that game in mind.

Re: 6500 / Conquest

I hate the 6500 4.5-30 like I've never hated any firearms related product. Great idea on paper, but the execution is terrible. Basically unusable above 20x and the eye relief is so long that it's impossible to get proper cheek weld. Also, the eye box is so small that you can lose the view through the scope with just a hair of movement. Having to keep your head at the back of the stock just to get the eye relief right makes it very hard to maintain any particular position so losing the image is a very common occurrence. I had the 2.5-16x model and my experience was similar, but not quite as bad. I would never buy or recommend one to anyone. There are much better options for the money - including the conquest.

Good luck,
Erik

Re: 6500 / Conquest

I have both, and for the money, they cannot be beat. I compared conquest 6.5-20x50 side-by-side with Swarovski ZFM 6x42. In the evening, looking into the dim yellow lights in house windows, Swarovski is way more clear. Although it is only 6 power, the difference in clarity made the images better than conquest at much higher power, without showing image distortion. I have not tried 6500 under low light

Under sunlights, the difference became less obvious but the image just look better with Swarovski glass. I don't have the sore eye muscles with Swarovski as I would have with conquest after looking through them for a while

However, for the amount of money one pays, no complaint with Conquest

Re: 6500 / Conquest

I had a 6500 4.5x30x50 and I couldn't get rid of it fast enough .However I also have a 10 year old Elite 4200 6x24x40mm and its glass is much better then any 6500,its a keeper.
