Gunsmithing 6br to 6brx

You can, but it MUST be set back. It has to do with body taper.

Years ago "gunsmits" were taking BR reamers, cramming into BR chambers, and "kapow", instant Dasher status.

Till the shooters started sneezing cases left and right due to the webs being stretched out like the Homecoming queen. The tool (chamber reamer) must be specific and the barrel needs to be set back so that it has fresh material to catch everything back up with.

Insist on this. It'll save your face and your wallet from a beating.

I’ve sent several items to you guys with an awesome turnaround. What would be the cost for you to do it. Currently it’s 28” bugholes Bartlein will only about 800 light rounds but I’d like it to be just shouldered for one of my origin actions so I didn’t have to use the nut

A setback is typically just as much or more work than starting from scratch. That said I've always lowered the rate a bit cause it just "feels" like I'm pulling one over on the client if I don't.

Truth be told, picking up existing threads, while not hard, is certainly more work than when you have virgin material in front of you.

So, I guess you have to decide a couple things. Do you want us to lop off the tennon and start fresh or just peel a thread and push the shoulder forward?

I always opt for a fresh start whenever possible as its just easier/safer. Safer in the sense that if I have virgin material to work with, there's almost zero likelyhood of whatever was done before becoming an issue. A 28" tube on a BR is ambitious so I'd think you'd have plenty of room yet to stretch its legs on speed.

Rate on this would start at $275 for the SB and $350 for a start over.

Were fast anymore. A single barrel install now is often in/out in a few days. C/K, fluting, etc... are all peripherals that do add to the times.
