What's the difference between these two cartridges? Is there an advantage/disadvantage between the two? What would be better on barrel life?

Would I be able to shoot the 105gr in a 5rd AI mag with either one of those cartridges (would they feed reliably)?

I was going to go with a 6mm XC, but have read these are easier on barrels, because you can get the velocities out of the cooler burning powders.

Re: 6cm(competition match) vs 6mm super lr

If your looking to push 115s then they have an advantage over the 6XC. I had the 6XC and loved it but thought I needed more "Umph" for the 115s so I had it rechambered to a 6MMsuperX or whatever they are calling them now. Its basically a 243 case with a 30 degree shoulder and a longer neck.

It shot great and was easy to load for. You basically ran a 243 case into a 6XC die that had a shim under it to make your brass. So you wound up with a bigger 6XC case.

I used H1000 in my loads and it was deadly accurate but I lost accuracy when the barrel reached the 2800rd mark. I was still deadly to 600 but would open up past the 600yd line.

The 6CM is a little bigger case and I have heard great things about it too. Go over to 6BR.com and you can read all about these two cartridges. You would be happy with either one of them. The 6XC is deadly too if you want to stay with the 105s.

That 6mmBR article has a minor error in the description of the 6mm Super X (now called the 6mm Super LR).

It actually has the same body taper and slightly LESS capacity than the .243 Win.

It does NOT require fireforming, only running the case through the reloading die.

The SH link is about the 6mm Crusader, which is an entirely different cartridge.

Re: 6cm(competition match) vs 6mm super lr

I have a 1-7.5 barrel being made so this thread will be of particular interest to myself. As soon as the 6BR is burnt out then I will be looking to shoot the Dtacs or 115 Berger's in the new barrel.

The only thing that concerns me is having to use Winchester brass when I have a inexhaustible supply of Lapua brass!!

Thanks for all the info so far...hope it keeps coming. I may be mis-informed, but what I don't like about the 6mm crusader is that it needs to be fire formed (????). I just want to buy brass, load and shoot.

Between the .243BRK and 6mmSuperLR,

The 6mmSuperLR is closer to what you want to be able to do, since it maintains the factory taper. But you probably could actually do it with either cartridge. With the BRK, that first firing will blowout that shoulder those few thousanths. Otherwise they are very close. So close as to not matter.
