Tell me what you know about it. I've searched on here and a few other places but I can't find much info on it. I am trading some of my 221 fireball stuff, and have the chance to go either 6MM/22-250 or 6MM/22-250AI. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 6MM/22-250

I'm not too sure, on 6mmBR.com they call it a 6XC.

Re: 6MM/22-250

All the above mentioned 6mm cartridges are roughly based on the .22-250 case. The AI more capacity, sharper shoulder, little rougher feed. The XC is a smoothed and shoulder-forward AI from the brain of David Tubb. The International trades a little case capacity for a longer neck. They will all get you to within a couple of hundred FPS of a .243 Win. with a longer barrel life. If you want more speed, go .243, don't go nuts trying to hot-rod a .22-250 size case. Look at the barrel twist if you want to shoot the heavy (105gr +) bullets to buck the wind.

Re: 6MM/22-250

6mm22-250 aka 6mm International and 6XC are totally different cartriges. Google 6mm22-250. 6XC is formed from 22-250 but is blown out to work in KAC 308 mags. 6mm22-250 retains the taper of the 22-250 parent case which was 250 savage necked down to .243

Re: 6MM/22-250

6XC brass also has a thicker case web.
If I were wildcatting the 250 case I'd use XC brass.

Re: 6MM/22-250

Why is the 6xc and other similar type chambering more accurate than the good old 243, or are they? Why would youwant to put a 6mm bullet on a 22-250 case. Isnt the 243 darn neer the same thing? I say if you want to go fancy, do a 243AI. Thats what i am doing! educate me on this please!!! Lee

Most 6XC cases come from fireformed WIN 22-250 cases.

I've posted several times on this chambering - do a show posts on me to find the latest.

Bottom line is it pushes a 107 SMK 10 FPS than a 243 WIN and does so with 10 grains less powder. A fair trade-off if you ask me.

If you want a chambering that "goes to 11", then you better go for the 243 AI or the 6MM Crusader.

9H,
I was under the impression that the Norma stamped 6XC brass was made with a thicker web.
I'm sure that most shooters would rather work domestic 22-250 brass than pay the Norma prices.

Re: 6MM/22-250

I'm on my 6th loading on my original 200 Norma cases and as far as I can tell, there is no wear whatsoever. The primer pockets are still tight and no stretching at the base. I'm only pushing the 115 at 2950 though.

Lee, the appeal to me is you can seat the bullet out in front of the neck, shoulder junction and still feed from DPMS 308 mags. I also have a 243 but the bullet crowds the powder capacity at mag length. JMHO. This is why DTubb progressed from 243 to 6mmX and finally 6XC.

It very well may - but enough people that shoot the 6XC form their own brass due to the inconsistency and quality issues associated with the 6XC brass, making most rounds fired out of the 6XC done with 22-250 cases.
