6mm CM choices

Accurate they are, very!!!

Below are groups from my Howa with its factory barrel...

First steel group is at 700 yards. That one on the left side is not counted in the group because it was not shot together with the group.

The two paper targets are @ 100 yards.

Last steel group is at 500 yards. I pulled one it appears. Also, it was very dark as it was right when the sun had set. I was having trouble seeing.

I enjoy my Howa 6mm Creedmoor

McMillan A5
SAC bolt knob
Atlas CAL
EGW Steel 20moa Rail

Old pic; its currently wearing a PMII 5-25x56

Really hard to beat for the money. Use to get them really cheap from Brownells with a coupon code, but it seems they increased prices a lot.

Hard to go wrong with either option. Buy one, and spend as much time shooting as possible. Also, I would personally step up your scope game, but thats just me.

Love my Howa 6CM barreled Action. Tossed it into a KRG Bravo. I haven’t even started load development (just picked a low charge weight to make some 1x brass) and it’s already shooting at 1 MOA. Looking forward to getting things dialed in.

I didn’t ask but will now. Is there something decent in the 1k range for glass. Maybe me but I’m running a atholon ares elr for the upgrade of the hs-lr and pretty happy.

A couple $1000 optics that I would be looking at:

Athlon Area ETR, yup
Bushnell DMR-II
Bushnell LRTS
Steiner P4Xi
Meopta Optika 6
The new Brownells MPO (look for Iyla's comments on it, looks very promising)

Either way, always make sure you verify your scope's tracking. Measured, tall target tests should always be done on every scope! (That you plan on dialing turrets for corrections)

Edit:
Here's a video example of tall target testing:

I have the Howa 6.5 CM, in an XLR Element chassis. I just got to 100 rounds thru it last weekend, it shot 1\2 moa after about 10 rounds thru it, last 2 5 shot groups were .225. That was with factory eldm 147's. The trigger was set at 2.5 pounds new, I clipped the spring and it's 1 pound 7 ounces now. YouTube is your friend for that. I have the Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30 mil on it, and I'm very happy with it. Good glass, tracks good, and I really like the reticle. For what I have into it, it's a heck of a set up. Call doug@camerland for a hide members price on the Athlon.

Viper PST Gen II or find yourself a Gen I Vortex Razor. That’s what I use and they didn’t change a whole lot from the Gen I to the Gen II. Other than the turrets. I don’t there was a major glass change. It’s very clear and can be found for a little over $1k

I would also recommend the Howa. I have out many 1/2 moa groups with my brothers Howa 6.5 CM between factory ammo and load workups.

The Burris XTR II would be another optic that can easily be had for under $1000. The couple I have had the tracking has always been spot on.

For the price I also don't think you can go wrong with the Bravo. Someday I will replace mine with a Foundation bit until that day the Bravo is more then up to the task.
