I'm new here. I've read a lot that this is a good place to get good information on the 6mm Creedmoor cartridge. I'm currently gathering pieces for a 6 creed build. I've noticed that h4350, h4831, and packed full of h1000, are the loads people are using. My questions are has anyone tried imr 4955 as a substitute to their h4831 loads. My Creedmoor barrel is a 26 inch Krieger 5r 1 in 7 twist. .236 on the diameter. Also what advantages do the small primer pocket lapua or Peterson, 6.5mm creedmoor brass necked down to 6mm hold over the hornady large primer pocket. Will i have to use the large primmer pocket brass in the winter if i hunt for reliable ignition. Help with load data and brass suggestions is appreciated. As you can tell by the twist I'm leaning toward 110 smk, 115 dtac 115 berger. Thanks for your time.

Ive noticed with my barrels i get my accuracy node at 3065-3085 fps. This is using either 105gr bullets (hybrids, amax, smks) or 110SMKs. Ive only run 22-24" lengths but each loads most accurate has fallen in that fps range. A 24" shooting hybrids at 3065 is 7.1mils to 1k, a 22" shooting 110smk at 3085 is 6.2mils to 1k. Been very impressed with the performance and load work up using the 110s.

never used anything other than h4350 but I've read Reloader 17 is another good powder but a bit more temp sensitive.

What throat or "free bore" are you running on your chamber. How far are you seating that 110 smk from the lands. How's the load density with 4350. That's one thing I try to do is fill the case.

If you want to run the 110 smk you will need a 1:7 twist. The 115 dtac are great with 1:8 twist but you better buy them 1000's at a time or you will run out before getting more. I started with H4350 then it became extinct on the shelves. Accuracy was good load density not so much. Switched to IMR 4451 and it worked as a direct replacement to H4350. Finally switched to H1000 and will not be looking back. Run them around 3100 fps and its great

Sergeant how many grains of H1000 are you running. And have you ever tried Retumbo. As I have it on the shelf at the house. I have seen a .243 load with 49 grains of retumbo max load. Is it possible to get that much powder in a Creedmoor case. I'm not above using a long drop tube either.
