So this has been slowly coming together for the last 6 months. Surgeon came in to replace a Nesika KT action that was having issues. Originally had an AICS 2.0 but sold that to try the KRG. Loved my AI, but really liking the KRG. Distributed had a 6mm 1-8 twist Benchmark with a small scratch on it so I scored a deal on it. Couple minutes on the lathe and voila, no scratch. The 6mm crusader has been sitting for a while brand new and waiting to be used. My friend ordered it and just never got around to it. To many other projects. Anyways I figured I have been shooting 308 religiously for the last 4 years, lets try something different. Sold by NightForce NP-R1 (nothing wrong with it, served me well) and jumped up to a March 5-40x56 FML-1 first focal. Little bit of a change as I have very much been an MOA guy but want to challenge myself with more unknown distance stuff and filling so figured this was a good time just to do it. Only thing left to do know is Cerakote. Going to do a base in desert sage and then go from there and see what happens.

I have done a bunch of fire forming, both full loads off Winchester 6mm virgin brass, and some sub sonic loads. Both work well and based off of George's fireforming loads I was even able to print a few 1/4 minute groups at 100m, so that looked very promising. Also took some of George's loads (52.5g retumbo and 115 DTacs) and took it out to 1000m. Thing is a laser beam. Shooting at 10x18 inch steel and if was quite easy. Yes a larger target but wind changes, although small that day, didn't do anything. Hold center and wait for the clang.

Barrel is 27 inches, little bit of a pig but the next one will be a medium or heavy Palma. This one is a heavy varmint profile. Also started shooting it without a brake and then thought, what the heck so we threw one on. I could watch my impacts before and now it just doesn't move so its easy peasy to see hits, and misses and make corrections.

Haven't been able to shoot as much as I want as any real shooting location is an hour to and hour forty-five avay but I just found a local farmer/cattle guy 10 minutes out of the city with 6-8 sections that said I can shoot to my hearts content. Being up in Canuckistan I just have to time my shift work schedule and cold weather and I can get out more.

Just trying to get a bunch of steal together to make a nice little range. So far I have between 800-1000 yards. I have to go do some walking and scouting to see how far out I can shoot.

Overall I am pleased with every part of my build and hopefully I can get a range report (pics) up here soon. Doing a load work up using 117g matrix VLD's great bullet and a little easier for me to get then Dtacs so we will see.

I found some pics in my phone of some load work up and stuff.

This was my first shoot at 100m with fire formed brass. I shot this on a hotter day with mirage and my eyes don't like the green. Washed out. Last group I got smart and dialed back my power and tinted out much better.

Next was some load work up at 130m. Was what I could get. 100m was in a dip and then past the 130m the hill dropped of so I was SOL.

Nice rifle, my 6.5x284 had a HV taper Krieger. It shot great, but like you said, it was a piggy. By the by....how come the green target is dated 12/09/01?

Re: 6mm Crusader/Surgeon/KRG/March/Benchmark build

Sept. 1, 2012, had it together and working, didn't have abrake and still had my nightforce on it at that time. Shot it a few times then sold the scope so it didn't see much action until the march came in and then threw the brake on it. At that time it was also in an Aics 2.0 chassis while I waited for the krg to come in.
