I have a couple of 6 ppc barrels. In terms of tactical/long range shooting, are these worth anything? I had plans on building another 308 stick, but if i can use one of these it would be great. Any opinions?

Re: 6ppc barrel

I had a 6PPC barrel installed on a CZ527 a while back. It's a 14 twist so bullets up to around 70 gr work well. It is an absolute blast on a prairie dog town.
It will also feed from the magazine. The donor action was in 7.62x39.
One of our local shooters just won the 500 yard BR match we hold at my club with a BAT in 6PPC and using 68 gr bullets. It was definitely running out of gas there though.

Re: 6ppc barrel

We've got a few old 14 twist high end tubes that we recut to either 243 or 6mm Rem. With light wieght projo's you can work up an absolutly devastating varmint/small game round. We've got a Hart stainless in the pile right now thats at 2000 rounds and you can't tell its not new. Less than ideal twist, but can be very useful, fun, and effective if you know the limits.
