Gunsmithing 6xc to .243

Can a CRF barreled action chambered in 6xc be reamed to .243 win without setting the barrel back and recutting the cone breech and extractor slot? It appears that all of the relevant dimensions of the 6xc are the same or smaller than the .243--so my "non gun-smith" mind figures you could just ream it again without setting it back.

Would somebody with actual experience set me straight please?

Re: 6xc to .243

You should be able to but, the .243 reamer is going to follow the XC chamber. If it's straight no problem. If it has runout in it so will the new chamber. Dial the barrel by the bore first and check the XC chamber, if it's GTG, run with it.
