I have a Savage stevens 200 in 7/08 with Lothar walthar heavy barrel.

I have always reloaded for all my rifles and handguns. This situation is a first for me ;;

I am useing Vectan powders Tubal 5000 / Winchester Large rifle primers / Winchester brass cases / and 150grain psp bullets.
As on the load data I have (from a trusted book I always use) it states min load 2.65grams and max 2.70grams. I have reloaded 20 at 2.65grams. When the bullet is seated to the crimp mark on the bullet , I noticed the powder fills the case up to the case neck and by shaking it next to my ear, it is obvious that there is extremely little or no air between the bullet and the powder. This seems odd to me, as every load I have ever done before for my other caliber rifles, you can see there is at least 25% of the bullet that is empty of powder.
Is this normal ??

Re: 7/08 Full case

It's just a "near capacity" load. I have a couple of loads for my 30-06 and my 260 Remington that are actually compressed, meaning "no air space" and you can't hear the powder shake inside.

If you have a book listing that says it's safe to START there, then I wouldn't worry too much.

Normal safety procedures are important, like glasses and ear protection.

I have not heard of Vectran powders before, so I have no idea how to compare it to data that I have for that caliber.

Re: 7/08 Full case

Thanks. I can shoot without biting my lips now .

Vectan powders are French. They wont import or "cant" due to typical French paperwork. So for now we are stuck with just one powder !
