I shoot a Savage 7/08 with LW 28" barrel 1:9 twist .(Precision target use only)
I have shot Winchester CXP2 140g bullets with great results over 200 yards.
Now Im going to reload the cases. Im not going to use Berger as they are over my budget. But I plan on using HPBT as from what i've read they have great results for target use over long ranges.
The bullet weight is what Im not too sure about. I have choices of ; 140g /150g /168g/175g/180g or 190g
Can anyone advise which to use for distances out to 800yards ? for precision target use.

Re: 7/08 long distance bullet weights

Using JBM and Litz derived G7 Bc's I assembled some 1000 yd figures for match bullets, that are not made by Berger, at velocities that are within the realm of reasonable possibility using a 7mm-08.

Hornaday 162 gr A-Max @ 2725 FPS

1000 Yds Drop -9.0 Mils -30.8 MOA Drift 2.0 Mils 7.0 MOA

Sierra 168 gr SMK @ 2700 FPS

1000 Yds Drop -9.5 Mils -32.7 MOA Drift 2.3 Mils 7.8 MOA

Sierra 175 Gr SMK @ 2650 FPS

1000 Yds -9.2 Mils -31.8 MOA Drift 2.0 Mils 6.8 MOA

Bullet weights less than 162 grs and over 180 grs are inferior ballisticlly for LR match use in a 7mm-08.
