7/08 question?

Getting a LTR stock from member here for a 7/08 project. Question is on barrel length? Thinking of going with a 22" length in a varmint contour. Will this be sufficient length in this caliber?

22" should be dandy. i have a 7-08 mountain rifle with a 20" bbl and it is no slouch.

22 should be fine. I settled on 24 for mine and would do the same again. Just seems to balance quite nicely.

I recently cut my 25" #7 contour down to a 20" 'slightly modified' medium palma countour. The balance and portability are significantly improved. I lost about 80fps with the same load, but managed to find another sweet spot with a little more powder.

This one awaits a McMillan stock and has a 21" barrel. I'd do it again.
