Okay, so I ran out of .308 brass, but I have a bunch of federal gold medal match 7.62x51 brass... Have any of you reloaded .308 fgmm and 7.62 fgmm with the same reload data, and checked on a chrono to see if your results were identical?

I chronoed fgmm 175gr out of my rem 700 20" barrel, 2530 fps. So I tried some reloads, and 41.6gr of h4895 in .308 federal brass, came out around 2530 fps on the chrono (wanted to match what I'm used to).

Okay, update! This should clear up any curiosity from anyone who ever wants to know the ballistic differences when switching from federal .308 and federal 7.62x51 cases.

My previous pet load was 41.6gr of h4895 in a federal gold medal match .308 case, with WLR primers, 175gr bthp SMK, Out of my 20" remington 700 sps tactical, I was getting 2530-2540 fps at the chrono.

Today I tested 41.6gr of h4895 out of a 7.62x51 fgmm case, and experienced identical results to the .308!

THEN I tested 42.0gr of h4895 in a 7.62x51 case... Wow. My groups tightened up to sub MOA, and I'm getting around 2580fps. I'm very happy with this load, and it is my new pet load. Hope you guys enjoy my little science experiment!
