Just accuired a new factory Rem 700 308 AAC
The lenght to the leade measures 2.342 which is very long for a production chamber. Anyone else measure theirs?
The max I can load a 168 SMK is 2.230. This a 110 thou jump.
Maybe my measuring methods are flawed. I just saw cut a case neck and insert a long bullet then chamber it and measure.

My friends SPS-T comes in at 2.346" with a 168 SMK. I load them to 2.316" as he doesn't care about using the stock internal magazine to feed them. They seem to be shooting very well at that length. I did try them at mag length and they shot very well too...although the longer rounds shot a tiny bit better..not by much though.

I can't find where I wrote mine down. But it's really long too. Fairly common for our factory rifles. I load mine to 2.800" OAL and don't seem to be having any problems.

Had an AAC and an SPS Varment both were 2.285 inches to the Rifling. Yours may very well be just alittle longer... Jump is good sometimes. Try removing your firing pin and ejector, then coloring the long loaded bullet with sharpie. This ill show you when the bullets making contact with the grooves and give you a measurement to go with (if your neck tension is correct).
