First I would like to thank everyone who participates on this site as I've used a lot of the info here for both work on this rifle and my process of getting into long range shooting. I've lurked for a while here and now am hoping I can contribute.

This is my 700 5r 20" which now resides in a bell & carlson light tactical. I traded out the factory H.S. Precision stock that came with it after finding it wasn't the best fit. With the H.S. stock I would have to hang my whole pinky off the bottom of the grip in order to get my trigger finger in line with the barrel. Even though I didn't feel entirely comfortable behind the factory stock it shot extremely well out of the box consistently shooting .5-.75 once I worked up a load.

Here's a close up of the PTG Stealth bottom metal. I inletted the stock for the m5 cut by hand with a Dremel with a tungsten bit and aloooooot of patience. Total time spent grinding, fitting, grinding again test fit, grind again- probably 6hrs. I ordered the stock from Stocky's first not planning on getting a DBM setup but some things you just can't live without. The DBM came from Stocky's a couple months after and I learned as I ordered it that if you purchase a stock and bottom metal from them at the same time they will inlet it for you for free. Lesson learned, always plan on DBM setup.

This is a close up of the front action screw. After bedding the bottom metal a thin portion of the stock crack off as i tried to remove it. The part where I epoxied it back on is the slightly rougher spot just left of the bottom metal. If anyone would like pictures with the bottoms metal removed just let me know, just didn't really feel like pulling it cause spits so damn tight in there after bedding it but it makes me feel warm n fuzzy that I didn't lose integrity of the stock with my Dremel debauchery.

Here is the back of the dbm. I lost the pictures I had taken of the process of inletting and bedding the dbm and action but the general order of how I attacked the install was to:
-putt two long screws through the action screw holes in dbm and align with the holes in stock
-mark around sleeve on dbm that will extend into stock
-begin grinding veery carefully until the dmb begins to slide into stock
-go bat shit crazy and attack everything below this small flush region you have created with the Dremel
-once it fits all the way in there drill holes large enough for the pillars provided with the dbm to fit in stock
-smear pillars with a little epoxy, push into holes and install action ensuring pillars are tight to where you want the action to fit in stock
-bed action as usual
-bed bottom metal
-find a ton of bubbles all over new bottom metal bedding
-skim bed bottom metal

This was a thread here I used for reference

I recently topped it with the AAC single chamber brake both to better protect the crown than the factory thread protector and because why the hell not. This brake seemed hard to beat at 50$ and adds neglidglible length to the barrel. Being .308 I never had a problem with the recoil but now I can sling so much lead with all these mags my shoulder definitely isn't complaining.

This is only target I have on hand but it show the POI shift I got after installing the AAC single chamber NM brake. The top two on the left I took to see what I would have to adjust at 100 yards. The one below that I just shot kneeling from about 25 yards to make sure it would be on paper and then there's two just left of the bull and two I shot into the center

Nice Job. My first 308 was a mil spec 5r. It was the 24" version. I'm with you on the HS stock.
Never felt like the stock fit right for me either. Nice paint job as well.
