Rifle Scopes 700 Scope Base dilemma

I am currently running a Ken Farrell Zero G 0moa base. This thing is built like a friggin tank, but its tall. With my IOR 2.5-10x42 and low rings, its at least 3/4" off the barrel, and makes getting a consistent cheek weld difficult.

So, Im looking at a different base. The one I keep going back to is the LaRue. Does anyone here have any experience with the LaRue base for the Rem 700? Everything LaRue I have owned has been tits, and I dont see any reason the base should not be the same, but the price has me just a bit worried.

I've had very good results using the EGW steel bases with 0 and20 MOA built in them. With Low rings and 50mm NF objectives I have just enough room to slip the rubber lens condom over the front end.
