700 Stainless 5R Threaded 300 Win Mag

I found one of these Remingtons new for 900 bucks. Are they ok or should I stay away from factory Remingtons? I expect .5 moa out of all my rifles after loadwork is done. Will this do it? It would be used only over 1000 yards where hits are harder to see. It looked and felt decent but that is always only the start of the experience...

I guess what caught my eye was that it was threaded. I'm getting tired of shooting my 7.5 pound 300 win. and it's not threaded for a brake. Very accurate just a pounder.

5R rifles are usually legit

I never shot a 5R 300win but my 5R 308 was a shooter. I did have it in an XLR Carbon chassis with a Timney CE though.

My buddy has one and it's easily .5 MOA with handloads.

Thanks. I might trade my 300 in on it and have fun dialing it in. It just sucks to buy a gun and dial and dial and dial and no satisfaction.

I've had my Rem 700 5r gen 2 in 300 win mag for roughly two months and i finally have it shooting roughly 3/8" groups at 100 yds. Unfortunately, out of the box I had to send the rifle to a gunsmith on Remington's dime because of a faulty extractor. Pretty shitty quality control but it was fixed very quickly. Hope that helps

Thanks. I am waiting and researching because I heard that 7mm Magnum is better. Its just hard to find it in the gun I like.
