Read a article on here somewhere about the 7mm creedmore and my computer crashed and have not been able to find it again, was hoping someone else had read the same and could tell me where to find it or has a rifle chambered in it and could shed some light on it good or bad,so if you have any knowledge of the caliber feel free to chime in,thanks

Re: 7mm creedmore

Mark Gordon of Short Action Customs built one about this time a year ago. I had the rifle for a little while and did a bunch of load dev. and testing with it. The case shoots extremely well and has the same kind of performance numbers between the 7CM and 7-08 just like a 6.5CM and 260 do.

The 7-08 has a touch more performance but the 7CM fits 162's and 180's in the magazine extremely well.

I shot numerous sub 1/2 MOA groups with it during testing. The reduced capacity case allows short seating of 175 Hornady RN with TrailBoss as a solid subsonic performer.

The case works really well with the 162 Amax and 168 Bergers. If I didn't already have 2 more 6.5mm blanks on the shelf for my 6.5CM I would be begging Mark to borrow his reamer and swap out to the 7CM.

I'm sure barrel life will be increased over the already good 6.5 and rival that of the 30-06. LIkely 5000+rd of match quality barrel life.

Josh-

What kind of velocity did you see with the 162s? How did that compare with the 7 08?

Thinking about moving on from the short-barrelled 7wsm. Need to get a 162 as close to 2900 as possible with a 24" barrel.

Re: 7mm creedmore

24" barrel was going 2780 with Varget and 2840 with IMR 2000MR. The 2000MR was pretty temp sensitive so I didn't do much more testing with it.

H4350 was good for 2740.

The Varget and H4350 shot in the 0.2's and the 2000MR was about 1/3-0.4 MOA.

Re: 7mm creedmore

The efficiency of the 7CM blows my mind. It sure seems like a great little cartridge, perhaps the only issue being the only game in town for brass is Hornady.

Still, if I hadn't been balls deep in my FN SPR 284 build, I would have bought that 7CM SAC rifle for sale here last month.

For comparison sake:

7CM fits effortless on a short action, and gets the 162gr bullets going ~2800fps with ~46gr powder

284 kinda fits a short action, and gets the 162gr bullets going ~2950fps with ~53gr powder.

Re: 7mm creedmore

Yeah, it's a very efficient use of powder capacity. I was pretty surprised to see the chambering putting up the numbers that it did.

Like I said above, if I didn't have 2 more 6.5mm blanks and a 6.5CM reamer/gauge set on the shelf I would likely be switching to the 7CM.

One of my friends is a year behind me on the short action rifle, he's getting Mark to build him a 7CM on a BigHorn.

Re: 7mm creedmore

Hmm Hmmm Hmmmmm... Wheels are turning.

I shoot metallic silhouette and a 7CM could very well be a perfect "Hunter" class cartridge. Would actually be able to load out close to the lands and fill a magazine which I can't do in my 7-08. Also, the 168 SMKs take down the Rams nicely. I just built a 6.5CM for my heavy gun for silhouette and I'll be testing that out next month in AZ. The downside to the 6.5s is that sometimes the 140gr bullets blow up on the steel and don't knock the targets over (no point). A 7CM very well could be a perfect cartridge for silhouette.
