I found the thread were the 7mm loads (all variations) are listed. I didn't see but one or two loads that addressed the 120grn bullets.

Can someone share their pet loads so I have a starting point?
Rifle is a Weatherby Vanguard s2.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Back in '01, when I first started reloading for my new '97 Sendero I in 7RM, I used some 120gr Nosler bullets. I have them listed as Partitions, but I believe that they were actually Ballistic Tips, as I still have some of those left and I don't ever recall buying Partitions.

I used IMR-4350 at 62.0grs and 65.9grs in RP and FC brass with two cycles on them.

Standard RCBS dies. CCI 250 magnum primers and no crimp. COAL was 3.302" for both batches.

For the 62.0gr loads, I got 3138 fps and for the 65.9grs I got 3348 fps.

Accuracy was good for 3 shot groups at 100 yds, but it was a small sample size, so no statistical relevance should be construed.

Thank you, Chris. I appreciate the response. I happen to have some 4350 so I'll give that a shot and start at 5% under your load.

Re: 7mm Mag 120grn loads

I ran RL-22 for all out speed. I was at 75gr which is over book by quite a bit. Slow lot I guess. It blew the shit out of a doe I shot, which according to some gun writers it wasn't supposed to, but it did.

I now run a start load of Ramshot Hunter. Velocity runs with a hot rodded 7-08 or 280 Rem. No recoil and hits hard on the steel poppers I have shot. Haven't shot a deer with it yet as I parked it for my 260s.

For Point and shoot out to 300 the 120 NBT or TSX is hard to beat.

The RL-22 suggestion I received on another board was at 73 grains. May start at 70 and work up. Thanks for the tip!

Re: 7mm Mag 120grn loads

My notes from 10-5-2011

7mmRemMag Ruger #1 26" barrel Leupold 1.75x6.5
120 gr Ballistic tip moly, 3.4" 72 gr H4350
3633 fps
3652 fps
3652 fps
3652 fps
50y 0.4" 3 shot group

When I switch to the 150 or 180 gr bullets, there is an increase in perceived recoil.
