Looking to experiement with a few different loads for the 7mm RM using 162 Amax & 168 Sierra Match bullets, I have been using H4831 64 grains with good results but would like a few other suggestions. Thanks

    I run the 162g A-Max myself. Try 69.0 - 73.0 grains of Retumbo.

My accuracy nodes are 70.0 grains (2975 fps) and 73.5 grains (3150 fps), with the second node being very hot and hard on the brass!

I use the 70.0g grain node and I'm happy.

I no longer have the exact load data I used but I can tell you had the best results with Reloader 22 and also had good results with H1000.

I've had best results (with all bullets used) using Reloader 22 and Retumbo. Both were very accurate, especially with Berger bullets.....

For the 168smk I use 70.0 gr of Retumbo at 3.29 oal and that gets me 3,050 fps. The 162 AMax gets loaded with 72.5gr of Retumbo at 3.40 oal and velocity average is about 3,160. These are from a 1-9.5 twist barrel.

Re: 7mm Rem mag load data

I always used H4831 for 168 SMK (moly), 63.5gr =3150fps. I have had that rifle for since 1995 and Sierra had 2 shooters using it and it was the most accurate. This was always a .30-.50 MOA load, hence no reason to muck with it. I have loaded it up to 66 gr, but case life was shortened.

The two other loads were with R22 and Amax 162's. That was a really hot load, had to be hurting the barrel. IMR 4831, that wasnt very efficent.

64 grains of H4831 and 162 Amax's shot .55 group yesterday, looking forward to trying Retumbo seems the pressure is also reduced. Thanks for the information.
