7mm saum wsm short action DBM for LR?

Anyone out there have success building a short action 7mm for long range (1200 yards-ish) with detachable box magazine? One that feeds reliably and allows room for high BC bullets... If so, what was your formula; i.e. parts action etc?


If no; then what about with trap door?

I haven't honestly searched extensively; but I have at least a little and seen only long actions utilized for LR builds.. I was interested in builds that utilize newer available parts; not that older builds aren't welcome, but I am hoping there are some out there that work around the OAL and feeding issues the short rounds have in the short actions.

We have a DBM with 3 or 5 rd mags. They are single stack and let you load out to 3.14". In a 7wsm, thats plenty for 180gr bergers. All in a short action.

Such things always bring a smile to my face... any idea how this would work with the stiller action, either the tac30 or the predator short? The predator has .130 inch longer loading box cut out, would that be helpful?

For Glen's WSM DBM, I'm pretty sure that even the predator's loading port needs to be extended a little bit, but I'm pretty sure its just a minor job.

Glen- Are the 5rd WSM mags in production, or close to it? My 3rd mag will get me by just fine, but I'm planning on ordering 3 or 4 5rd'ers as soon as they are done.

Defiance medium action is the same as a Remmy SA and will allow Glen's DBM and loading as long as the mag will. I currently run mine at 3.05 with the Bergers and have shot it to 2050 yards with great success.

They built a great 7 SAUM on a Surgeon RSR WSM short action for me. The bottom metal is Badger and no modification required to the AICS mags. I took 3rd place at the recent Shooters Bash using this system.
