Anyone out there have any great 7mm STW loads they are willing to share?

I just bought a 7 STW in Remington Sendero this week and wanting to get it going for a fall mulie hunt in a few weeks.

Planning on initially trying out 168 and 180 bergers over Retumbo.

Thanks,

Dark

Re: 7mm STW loads?

Retumbo and the 180's are a good place to start. I no longer have my STW Sendero, but with the factory twist it shot the 180 VLD's pretty well - even when seating them to mag length, which was jumping them something like .150" or more. H1000 would be another good powder to try.

The most accurate load in mine was 150 TSX's using RL22. Not the best LR load, but maybe that's not what you're after.

Start at 77 grains and work up. Very accurate in my best friends rifle at 79 grains. (180VLDs and Retumbo). I will have to find out what he is using for the 168's when he gets back from his elk hunt.

Re: 7mm STW loads?

I tried a few powders myself before I settled on 7828ssc. Ian using accubonds in 140 and 160 with speeds of 3450 and 3250. It gave me pretty good accuracy in my Winnie classic. The h1000 didn't seem to be as fast and left a lot of residue in the barrel. I wanted to use 168 bergers but It would of made the rifle a single shot. Imr4350 and 4831 also did well for me. My loads with 7828ssc are 80 grains for the 140s and 77 grains for the 160s. Use caution cause these are max in my rifle. I'm planning on taking this to mx this season I just can't decide which to use 140s or 160s. I know they are both overkill for whitetails, but under the circumstances I can't afford not to have a good blood trail etc...... Those senderos are very accurate I hear. Let us know how it turns out.
