7mm twist

Re: 7mm twist

Berger recommends 1-10" or faster for their 168 grain VLD. If I was ordering a 7mm barrel tomorrow I would buy one twisted 1-8.7" so I could use any bullet up to 180 Grains.

Here's an interesting read by Bryan Litz on Berger's 168 and 180 Gr 7mm VLD's:

This!

Re: 7mm twist

With the speeds you'll be looking at a 1 in 9 will probably work. I'm running a 7mm-08 and went with a 1 in 8 because I didn't want limited to any particular grain weight. I can run anything under the sun with it. And I believe in overtwist. I may never get the extremely high speeds but I want all the accuracy I can squeeze out. Just what I like.

Good luck,
Merritt

Correction they are matrix ballistics 190 VLD. Sorry another bullet manufacture I was planning on trying out.

Good luck,

More like 0.61 in real life
