7mmWSM..info please

im thinking of building a 7mmWSM. would just like to have some input from some 7mmWSM shooters.
-what kind of Bbl. life are we looking at?
-how does the recoil compare to a 300wm?
-what kind of performance will i get over my 6.5CM
-what ranges have you been shooting with it 7mmWSM
any other info you would like to add, would be appreciated

Anything 7 rocks! Recoil on mine is really manageable but I shot 99% of the time with a can on, so unsuppressed I don't remember how it compares to a 300wm. I do remember it was pretty tame in my gun. When you shoot the 7wsm next to a 6mm or 6.5mm you will notice alot of difference. There is so much more energy and power with the 7. At a match during the summer a guy hit a plate with his 7 and spun the target where .308 and 6.5mm shooters were merely swinging it a little bit.

7wsm is the ticket
7SAUM is really good too

I like winchester brass better than remington.

All that being said, my WSM was a hammer (still is, I just sold it.) Recoil was heavy. I ran a vias on mine so it was managable. I also ran a can and it was the same as running the VIAS.

Unbraked it kicks! Especially shooting 162grain pills.

I am building another.

Barrel life is around 1200-1700 depending on how hard you push it. I was afraid to shoot mine because I knew I could quickly get to 1200 if I wasn't careful.

The 7mm BC at WSM speeds is better than anything your going to get on a 6.5CM or 260.

It wasn't too bad without a brake, but then again the rifle wasn't that light and it was more of a push then a hard snappy recoil. Most people could shoot my rifle without a problem, even a 95lb girl shot it without discomfort.</span>
-what kind of performance will i get over my 6.5CM. <span style="color: #3366FF">Shot at 1k the other week and it only took 6.2 mils to 1k and about .4 mils with a 5-6MPH full value wind.

BC, what velocity were you shooting to get 3300 out of your barrel? What bullet?

I am glad to hear there is real world experience of 3k rounds down the tube!

Broughton barrel, using mostly 180gr Bergers or JLKs at 2900FPS. I also dabble with the 175gr SMKs as well. They shoot OK, but no where as good as the Bergers and JLKs. 3300 rounds might be pushing it in terms of barrel life. I really never shot at 100, only to check a load or to rezero the scope.

well as long as it was holding MOA and you were still hitting steel at range, that is good enough for me.
