7RemMag Reamer - how far out to throat new rifle

How far out would you feel comfortable seating a 162Amax? How about Berger 180 hybrids?

I was going to plan on throating for 180 hybrids just touching the lands with a caliber worth of bearing surface in the case. As the throat erodes, the bullet would have to move out of the case, eventually giving less than a diameter in the case.

1. Good plan?

2. How much throat erosion are y'all seeing on the life of a bartlein 7mmRM?

3. How much bullet do I need really need in the case to prevent run-out problems?

You need to talk to Dave Kiff about the throat, another good source of info is Robert Gradous, he has a great reamer for 180 hybrids for 7mag. I'm pushing 168's at 2950 and not seeing much throat erosion at all after 650 rounds.

Are you single loading? Will it need to fit in a mag? (internal or DBM)

If it needs to fit in a mag then you will probably want to build off of mag length vs max OAL.
