Hi All- I had a 7SAUM built on a Tikka action. 1-8" twist, No. 5 Brux, in a McMillan Gamehunter. I am trying to develop a functional load for hunting, that will fit in the 2.900" mags that Tikka makes. I was told the 180 ELD-M's would have to be seated so deep that it might not be ideal. What would be some alternative options/suggestions???

I had the same setup in the past . I installed bottom metal and bolt stop from Mountain Tactical along with their LA billet magazine. That allowed me to seat bullets around 3.1" with the ability to mag feed .

Take a look at the Tikka thread in the stickys near the top of the page , tons of information regarding everything Tikka .

Thanks Weiser- Last question, did you have any feeding issues when you modified with the Mountain Tactical kit? Assuming you bought the LA bolt stop and bottom metal.

No feeding issues at all . I used the LA bolt stop and mags , worked great. There's plenty of options including bottom metal that uses AI mags , I used the Mountain Tactical bottom metal so that I had the option of using their own mags or factory Tikka mags .

Yup I run both a 300 WSM and 7 WSM as a long action in my Tikkas with long magaxines and they cycles as smooth as my true short action Tikkas.

Why not adjust the bolt stop to give you more latitude to seat the bullet where you want than being confined to 2.9"

I mean you can always still load it sub 2.9" then but options are a good thing especially with how cheap and easy it is to do on a Tikka.

Mag space for days with a 300 WSM loaded at 3.020" COAL
