When will we see an 8.6 blk savage prefit? I would like to try one out for an origin. Starting with a remage was an oversight.

Mos-Tek makes them but you can order a shouldered pre-fit for the Origin so you wont have to mess with a barrel nut.

I saw that, just have no idea on Mos-Tek quality. Hopefully someone reports back on a 1:3 Mos-Tek 8.6
They're top quality. Their machining has been excellent and everything I’ve shot in the Faxon’s 1:3 twist barrels have shot consistently better in Mos-Tek’s 1:3’s and 1:6.5’s. The 1:6.5’s being the better twist rate option. I manufacture 8.6 ammo for resale so i do a lot of testing and load development.

Id love a 1:5 i think thatll be the sweet spot twist.
Exactly my thoughts as well. Set screwed and all. This would be strictly for subs, so the supers blowing up is not a concern.
If only X-Caliber did the 1:3 twist 8.6 to play with.
I don't much see the benefit to the 1:3 twist. I think the 1:5 would be the fastest id consider. The 350gr Makers stabilize just fine out of the 1:6.5 at 700ft ASL so I’m gtg. I like having the option to use slightly cheaper bullets for SuperSonics like lead cast bullets.
I’m definitely curious how that 1:5 will work out for you so please do share.

I did see that the maker bullet you mentioned specifically said to avoid a 1:3 twist.
I use the Berger Twist Rate Stability Calculator and it states the 350gr Maker is stable with a 1:7 with a stability factor of 2.08 which falls in line with what I’m seeing on target. I dont know how accurate it is though…but the calculator you’re using looks more advanced.

Well…i think ultimately we still have to verify it for ourselves and I’ve only verified to 100y so as long as it clears the barrel and suppressor, I’m gtg as far as I’m concerned.
Could not find a bullet length for the makers, but here is another calculation for the cutting edge 300gr .338.
I guess this is why I am still sitting on the sidelines with the 8.6BLK.
