8.6 BLK, The Caliber For Advanced Years.

It hurts to carry a ruck @ 19 years old and I find that as I age the attributes of being an effective soldier seem to become much harder to maintain. Force multipliers have a special place in all men's heart and thank God that the team that gave 300 BLK legs have gone twice as effective and I am betting the engineer @ Q is correct with 3THREE3 times the effectiveness of the 300 BLK.

I wanted The Fix rifle since I saw it and knew that Ihad to get one when I encountered the 8.6. I did recently find a fair local deal in 6.5. I do not have or need to get any 6.5CM. I now have a Proof in 308 and have shed a whopping 2 oz!!!! I could not be happier with the pluses of a CF barrel on this rifle. Now that I have a barrel AND EXTENSION that I am not using...........I need to thank my new Sniper Hide family for making me keep it.

The supersonic loads are no disappointment.

Picked up a Sig rifle the other day that's basically a bolt actioned AR.

It doesn't take a barrel extension and special contour to have the ability to switch calibers.

It takes longer to tighten the 4 nuts on a barrel vise than it does to change a barrel and bolt or bolt nose on a bolt action rifle.

We will not be needing a vice and IDEALLY I will be making an 8.6 BLK by early Fall. IICRR, 8.6 is open source. The 1:3 is going to be a problem.

If you're talking about the Fix, then you are deluded by the Q. There are plenty of <$1000 rifles that can do anything the Fix can do. It's just weighs less... BFD. Seriously, 6.5CM, .260 Remington, etc., etc. There are many that fill this space.
8.6mm rifle, whatever at less than 2800fps, is not interesting and is not worth $1, to most on this forum.

Might want to rethink some of your statements tough guy. Some of us here work for companies that could buy Mr. Brighthams entire existence with change rattling around in the ashtray.

You keep prattling on about how shitty of a community this is. Are you aware that the very company you keep lusting on IS a member here?

Since you acknowledge how brilliant Mr. Brightham is, ever stop to think about maybe there is a reason why he hasn’t officially offered 8.6 BLK commercially yet? Perhaps details like engraving forces and jacket disruption a 1-3 twist barrel imparts on a cup and core bullet is not ideal. Or that .338 dia bullets are mainly designed to operate at velocities higher than 8.6BLK unless you want it to solely function like a fmj projectile.

What about the big one that Mr. Brightham has even said himself. 1-3 twist is too extreme and has a high failure rate manufacturing the barrels in the first place. Yet your telling us your gonna get it done anyway. So your saying now your even smarter than Q rifles?
