I am trying to get more accuracy out of my 3 twist 8” barrel. This is from 25yds away. The group is crap so no judging (and trying to digest those results too) but I circled 5 rounds that are of interest/concern. Has anyone else had this on paper? I hope it’s the bullet just ripping more of the paper but it also feels like it’s hitting the paper off angle meaning the bullet hitting sideways. Is this possible?

The bullet is key holing, and is not stable in flight, essentially tumbling in the air.

What's weird is that some seem to be fine.

It sure feels this way. I swear I am not this bad of a shot.

Next question is that the bullet seating problem? It’s factory ammo or is it the barrel twist?

I'm not a 8.6 blk specialist but it is most likely 3 twist and the specific bullet.

With some impacts looking normal and some not, I lean toward bullet integrity failure.

What bullet? Is it subsonic or super?

It’s subsonic. I was using a mix of 285gr and 338gr and not sure which was yawing like that. Will go back tomorrow and use one target for one bullet weight to see if it’s both or just one. I noticed this after the day was over.

What specific bullet and brand?

Gorilla has two 285 loads, one for 16" barrels and one for 12" or 8" barrels, given the groups you may have the wrong one?

No. Paul made a special weight for Firehole ammo. It’s similar to their 350gr offering.

I appreciate your help sleuthing but the box has 8”-12” so I will assume that is correct.

Well those maker bullets say not to run in 1-3 twist...so likely it's those

He just developed a new bullet that will expand in both the 3 twist and the 6.5 twist. I have the bullets that will just expand out of the 3 twist so I am good there.
