Any info on these pistols? Someone offered me cash and the pistol for my bow. What would one of these, in good condition, be worth?

Even better question, do I want it??

Re: 9mm Makarov...

You couldn't melt a Mathews down and pour it on me. Way overpriced for what you get, IMO.

I'm getting back out of bowhunting. I got a sweet deal on the bow, thinking I'd get back into it, but not so much. It's been hanging on the wall for 3 months or more.

Re: 9mm Makarov...

Maks come in .380 an 9x18

The Mfg is the key. The Russian or Eastern Euro's are mostly bullet proof. I have most all the names in pistols, my mak's will never be sold.

One of the ones I have has had over 7500 rds to date eating wolf, Silver Bear, an Brown Bear, FMJ. It's never failed to go bang. The other one hates Silver Bear Hollow points, but eats FMJ's up.

Mak's have a following by those that want reliabilty an low cost. Another cheap but very good pistol is the CZ-52 an your stepping way up in power with one of those. (7.62x25) 90gr leaving the barrel at 1650fps

Thanks for the info. I did a little looking around on the net and I don't think I want it.

It's only 4 hours from you... I can PM you the email address if you want any info on it.

Re: 9mm Makarov...

I have 2 CZ-82's in 9x18. It's directly between a 380 (9x17) and a standard 9mm (9x19)

Both pistols have very nice triggers, especially for a military side arm. They are black paint coated or black russiancoat (whatever form of powdercoat they use).

They're fixed sights, bullet proof, have a fixed barrel and are extremely accurate.

I also have a single true "Makarov" built pistol in 9x18 and my dad has a few of them. My mom's carry pistol is that.

It's an excellent little pistol. At the time we bought a bunch of them they ran about 90 bucks each, the CZ82's I think I got for like 175 each.

Today's prices on those two pistols, at a shop paying retail are about 175 for the Makarov and 275-300 for the CZ-82.

That is based on a very good condition pistol with an extra mag, the cleaning accessories and a holster.

Re: 9mm Makarov...

Thanks for the replies.

Honestly I want something that I can add accessories to. I've had 3 pistols, not much of a pistol person, and all three have been not accessory friendly. It being .40 or .45 cal wouldn't hurt either. lol

I guess I'd ask what you're using it for, but I still cannot understand what drives people to accessorize something that works very reliably. Most often when I hear "Glock has ______ issue" less than halfway through the problem description you hear about accessories and non-Glock parts.

Same holds true for many other common pistols with "improvements"

Mostly just to have in my home. By accessories... I mean a light or maybe a laser. I suck at shooting iron sights, can't get my eyes to focus correctly.

Gotcha. Not my cup of tea for a number of reasons, but if that's what you find most comfortable, then by all means gof for it.
