Suppressors 9mm suppressed 1911?

Anyone have a 1911/2011 suppressed 9mm host? I would imagine the heavier pistol would be a joy to shoot.

I've been impatiently waiting on my griffin optimus for the last 9 months and have picked up a G19,M&P, and P320 as hosts. All factory threaded offerings.

Does anyone one have any hands on experience?

Don't have a 9mm version but have a 1911 as a .45 suppressed using a octane 45HD. Its a blast to shoot. The balance is in my opinion perfect, recoils like a long slide 9mm and with a storm lake barrel is stupid accurate for a pistol that the only work done on it is a barrel change. Go with the 1911, you'll most likely love it suppressed.

As with Flyingbullseye, I have shot a suppressed 1911 in .45, and found it to be thoroughly enjoyable. Additionally, I have shot two metal-framed 9mm hosts - a Sig 226, and a CZ75. Both are absolutely awesome. A 9mm 1911 is on the "intended acquisition" list, but I don't have the funding for it just yet...

I have a Springfield Range Officer in 9mm that a had a Storm Lake suppressor barrel installed in. Love it and its accurate. 9mm 1911s are fun and easy to shoot. I haven't shot it suppressed yet, still waiting on my Osprey 45 and Ghost 45.

did you have the barrel professionally installed or did you do it yourself?
This may be the least expensive option.

I had it done by Controlled Chaos Arms since he's close to me. I may try it myself on another 1911.

My next dream 1911/2011 is either going to be custom build or STI's DVC 2011 in 9mm. Or any STI 2011 with a threaded barrel.

I am running a Dan Wesson Discretion 1911 45ACP with a Trijicon RMR and love it, but if I was going to chip out $2K for another 1911-esque suppressor host, I would want a double stack, especially if it was in 9mm.

Piper, who did you have mill your slide?
i would be very hesitant myself to send out the slide for such an expensive pistol.

I had Fusion Firearms mill it. I called about 6 spots, including Wilson Combat and Dan Wesson. All of the others wanted $250-$400 and had wait times up to 6 months. Fusion charged me $160ish plus return shipping and i had it back in three weeks. They did a solid job. I believe their CEO is also the former director of Dan Wesson.

Bob Serva is a good guy. I have a longslide 9mm 1911 he built for me back in 2007 when Fusion was brand new, that I couldn't be happier with.

Nighthawk makes fabulous guns. With a suppressor and the weight of a 1911 in 9mm, it is too much fun. PCC in 9mm is next.

Yeah, Unless you have a short host and short can, suppressed centerfire pistols tend to be overly heavy, especially in the nose.
