Some have followed the thread where my Savage 338 Lapua had a failure and destroyed the rifle as well as my Nightforce NXS scope. I made a poor decision of posting some of the stuff on here to gain more information (which I learned a lot, thanks to those who contributed) and the thread derailed out of control, ultimately going from an informative thread into a bashing, assuming and slandering thread. I feel because of it, Savage was unfairly dragged through the mud when I had not come to a complete conclusion of the issue and want to take the time to apologize to them publicly on here. Paul and Chris at Savage have been kind and understanding, explaining their positions and findings to me in a timely manor, and also did come to a fair conclusion to assist me in getting back in the game with a new rifle. Unfortunately my lack of experience with some of the components, and trusting others that may have tried to deceive me lead to a dispute of fault, but in the end I am going to chalk it up as an expensive lesson learned as my other Savage products have been incredible to me. Chris and Paul didnt have to supply me with a new rifle, but I am proud to say they stand behind their products and run their business to keep customers coming back where as other companies may have told me here are your parts back, calls us when you come up with something. With my background as a business owner as well as law enforcement, I sometimes refuse to accept an answer unless I have proof one way or the other what the outcome is, and I still have a bit of research to do, but in the end, the mistake was mine to make. Once again, I applaud Savage for standing up and assisting me, helping me find the problems to the best of their abilities, and even after the thread blew up in a negative way for everyone, Chris was still professional to me on the phone and allowed me to explain.
Thanks again Paul and Chris, and I look forward to getting back into 338 with one of your rifles!

I also have to give a TON of credit to Nightforce. They had no skin in the game as nothing they did caused anything I owned to fail, yet they gave me an awesome deal on a replacement scope and helped me out when I was down. I had just spent a lot of money on the new combo and the first time out was the failure, so you can imagine how I felt watching the investment explode in front of my face. Since seeing how durable their scopes are, as well as how helpful they are in answering questions, setting up combos, and the fact that they are all avid shooters themselves, I have switched all my optics over to NF and will continue to use them as much as I can afford! I feel anyone in the market for a higher end scope owes them at least a look to see if their product fits your needs as in addition to the great products, their customer service is top notch and they are really out to help everyone!

If you have comments or questions, please PM me as id rather not have this thread destroyed with anything negative and destroy the message as it was intended.

Savage failure

Hey Mike,
Sorry I had not followed your post, and not to did up a dead issue, but what caused the failure? I just bought my son a Savage BA 110 with a NightForce NXS scope for Christmas last year. We have shot it a few times and extremely happy with it so far.

Thanks

J. Peterson

Glad to see that despite the course the old thread took that everything was resolved to your liking or at least an acceptable level. While I am not a huge Savage fan I do own a couple and haven't ever had a problem with them but appreciate hearing how they take care of their customers. Heaven forbid I ever have a problem with my NF but you often hear of them taking good care of their customers. One heck of a learning experience and I'm glad to see you have found the positive in it and pushed on. Keep shooting and stay safe.

Thanks for sticking with the old thread. It was an interesting case to follow. Some of the folks involved in posting on the other thread were hard on you. I guess that's the price paid for laying the situation out there. I am glad you did it anyway. Sometimes a guy has to take a lick or two when he does something for the greater good. Good luck with your new outfit!

Really?
Brother its one thing to spin a tale like you did in that other thread - then to close it out by basically bragging you managed to get the two manufacturers to "help you out". Then make the bold statement that anyone who saw through your fraudulent intentions is a bully.....but to then come back and open ANOTHER thread "apologizing"? This is pathetic - Your only grace is that the Lord will provide forgiveness but it will take you coming to terms with your lies.
