HOw long can this be left to itself?

    Transpose it to more personal.

You have a neighbor who hates you and is costantly making threats against you, your family, your home. You see, and he braggss about having, increasingly powerful weapons to destroy you and is setting some off in hs back yard.

Do you jut wait until he makes a move an hope you catch it in time? Do you wait and call the cops? Do you decide when enough is enough and take matters into your hands on yor time?

Looks like the Ruskies may be sending a message.

What if he's not really my neighbor and actually lives on the other end of the county and hates his nextdoor neighbor and the guy across the street just as much? With enough pressure China would roll through NK.

Good point. Perhaps catch them in a pincher attack with the Chinese and Russians on the ground and American air superiorty in support.

I think the factor that holds them back is economic, rather than idealogical.

Well I guess it depends on who "the police" are... Here in Ft Bend county Texas I am pretty sure that the sheriff's office would treat any reported threat with an appropriate response. If, however, "the police" are UN peace keepers, I think I would have a more proactive approach...

Honestly, I don't think we're going to get to do much; China is just going to step on their very own local cockroach.

China is never going to do anything to NoKo until it becomes the more desirable choice. That is the real challenge. Right now China benefits from the US/NoKo conflict, as in, "Let's you and him fight...". They don't need any smoke or mirrors, they have Kim Yung Fathead.

China has a far more real problem. China is rapidly running out of drinking water. What we need to do is figure out how to play a role in that issue.

In the end, one way or another, the roach is going to get flattened.

Honestly, I think the guy's gonna drop dead from a heart attack, too much rich food...

I don't know about that. My Wife is from Germany (when she was 5), and when she found out that East and West Germany were merging she said that was nuts. I have to say, I think she was spot on.

I think that what we have in Japan is basically the edict of The Grand Poo-Bah Emperor MacArthur. Not a big fan of his, but when Japan rearms, I'm gonna worry lots. I say 'when', and not "if" because it's gonna happen anyway, and probably sooner than later...; as if we didn't already have enough rogue nations floating around on the other side of the Pacific. I mean really, as the only nation that has actually been struck with nuclear weapons, does anyone here really believe they would hesitate to use them, and on us first, or maybe second?

Can you say, "Greater East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere"? I'd worry less about what Japan might do to NoKo than whatever it was they set their minds to do next.

China wont jeopardize their economy for Norko. They are Communist in regards to tyrannical Party rule only.

Russia and China are orchestrating this rift and they have been successful dealing with two useful idiots - Norko and a US run by Clinton, Bush and Obama. It was intended to continue with Clinton II.

Trump wasn't expected and ruined the game

    1. Reunification of the peninsula under South Korean control with the conditions that Korean/Chinese border is demilitarized for 50 miles north and south of the line.

    2. All US Troops depart Korea.

    3. Load grid coordinates for every square inch of the demilitarized zone into our tactical and strategic missile inventory.

    4. Celebrate the end of the Korean War 70 odd years later than we should have.

No way they’re getting ready to nuke anyone; that would be suicide. I think their reason for wanting nukes is so they won’t get regime changed and killed or delivered to some kangaroo world court. All the bluster is to focus their people on an external enemy (familiar theme).

    Perhaps.

Fatty enjoys his cognac, women and luxuries he denies others.

    Gotterdammerung doesn't benefit him.

Iran on the other hand...,....conflagration is part of their theology.

Europe goes along because they have bought into the idea of Earth being run by the Starship Federation.

The Federation can not exist with the archaic idea of "nation states" getting everyone all hung up.
