A technical question about Ar-15 rifle's

guys,

I have always heard that there are only a limited number of companys that make lowers and uppers.

If this is true does anyone know for a fact who the company's are?

I'm not sure I can qualify the below list, but this seems to be the consensus in the shooting community of the manufacturers who turn raw forgings into usable receivers. Each brand applies their own standards and tolerances. This seems reasonable as we know this is also how a lot of scopes are being made these days . . . one or two Asian manufacturers producing many labels.

I always thought Les Baer was made by one of the first three listed above.

I want to say Glen Seekins whittles his own out of bar stock. Probably the same with APA.

How can you forget these!!!

To me most uppers are pretty much the same unless you get a billet one or something and they all cost around the same price. I have a Vltor MUR upper to a Doublestar upper. The Upper is not going to make you shoot better, or the lower.
Just make sure its mil-spec. I usually buy the Bravo Co. uppers or the Vltor MUR upper and the lower I use is what my gun store has in stock. All lowers are damn near the same too.
It isnt going to make you shoot .2" groups if you have a $300 upper and a $300 lower. Get a quality barrel and bolt, thats what makes the difference.

I was told that Sabre Defense does their own work but I can't verify that personally.
