One of the greatest minds of the Libertarian movement. And an awesome writer.

Car guy... Bird hunter... Editor of National Lampoon whose covers were incredible.

PJ... I wish I could have met you and swapped jokes and libertarian ideas. You have been a hero to me since I read The Republican Party Reptile...

We are a diminished republic without PJ O'Rourke among us.

PJ O’Rouke

Great writer. I grew up reading his articles in National Lampoon in the early 70s and later his stuff in Road and Track and Car and Driver. Quite a leap, huh?

My personal favorite: “How to drive crazy on drugs without spilling your drink”

Oddly enough my local paper had both P.J. and Hunter as regulars in the OP ED section before they went full on commie agitprop.

Was just about to post this myself… still working nights and just read about it a couple hours ago. I was introduced to his wit and wisdom via his automotive musings, and quickly grew to enjoy the rest.

It’s not a stretch to say he helped bring me into the Libertarian/Conservative fold by making me think during my post-teen years. Critical thinking, and healthy skepticism is so under valued..and under utilized these days.

A primer sampling of PJ O’Rourke is a good place to get that started.

Thanks for starting this thread.

You didn’t get that right: “How to Drive Fast on Drugs While Getting your Wing Wang Squeezed and Not Spill Your Drink.”

For those who never read it…

“Wanna feel??”

Dang, I should have read that. The best I could ever do was three of those at the same time. I never landed a quadruple.

Conservative writer and humorist P. J. O'Rourke, whose witty wit and writings were often admired on both sides of America's political divide, has died, according to media reports and his colleagues. He was 74 years old.

I had just been commissioned to write an essay on the subject of P. J. O'Rourke's work and contribution, as a distinguished writer, to the country's political life. As I wrote the essay, I needed to check it for errors as I was about to present it before an entire audience. There were errors of my own making, so I turned to college editing to have my work presented at its best.
