A weird cargo pocket question

I have some velcro that doesn't hold any more and im wondering what you guys have for ideas to close a cargo pocket. I was going to replace the velcro but then starting thinking of other ways like small earth magnets but then there is the chance of damaging electronics. So before i do something i figured i would ask.

New velcro, or better yet have a seamstress, or anyone with a surger (type of sewing machine) sew in button holes. You cut the opening after sewing the reinforceing loops around where the hole will be located.

Then sew on matching buttons.

Take a look at the hook portion of the velcro.
If it has bits of lint, string or other stuff in it, try cleaning it out. It may save you from replacing it.

You could also just stop trying to pack all your pockets full like a damned chipmunk and get a small shoulder pack. I have one similar to this
