I more or less got a .270 with mauser action and a bell and carlson stock for free. it has a pencil barrel but seems to shoot well for a hunting rifle.
The stock has some flex mainley at the end of the barrel channel and was wondering if others with a B&C stock have ran into the same thing.

Re: ? about bell and carlson stocks

I've a B&C stock that has the aluminum bedding block. The only difference I see between it and the HS/P Johnny Cash is in, is weight and price.

Heavy rifles suck, unless it's only truck to bench.

Re: ? about bell and carlson stocks

If it's a Duramaxx stock it does not have foam, only plastic.
If it's like my Medalists with alum insert....it has a fiberglass shell and a lightweight filler. Call it foam if you like. It was never meant to be a high-density filler.

If you want a heavy weapon, go with a more dense filler.
Nothing wrong with low density fillers if they fit your needs.
I like a lighter-weight stock.

Re: ? about bell and carlson stocks

You can try comparing it to th epictures on the B&C website.
Or....remove the barreled action and look at the stock.
If its plastic it will look like it injection molded and will have pillars as the only metal component.

If its a Medalist with the alum insert...you will see the aluminum and it will not look like it was popped out of a mold.
If it has a lot of flex, I would bet it is a plastic model like the Duramaxx.
