Just finished watching D.K. Griffith’s Abraham Lincoln. Griffith’s first talkie, filmed in 1930. Presented on FMC (Family Movie Channel). While the scenery/backdrops are not 2021 computer generated realistic, the movie follows historical facts reasonably closely unlike so many movies/films of the 21st century. Nice to see some semblance of realism instead of fake drama.
Maybe not the most accurate (seeing the Union forces fire the first shot at Fort Sumter among other issues) the film at least follows some issues while trying to provide an entertaining experience.
As I would have expected, modern critics have blasted it. (I suppose seeing Kate Winslet sitting on the bow pulpit of the titanic is so much more important).
