Accurate rifles suck at 1073 yards

Went out to shoot the first rounds in over a week, which for me is about 7 days longer than normal.
Took my Rbros built 338 Lapua with some 300 grain MK's over 100.5 grains of WC872. Drove 20 minutes up into the hills above the house.
Found a canyon and ranged a .7mil wide x.5mil tall rock at 1073 yards. Dialed up 31MOA. Prone off a Harris bipod and Redman rear bag. 3-7 mph tail wind with a slight push left. Held favoring right and squeezed one off. Center hit on the rock and no witnesses, FuK. Stood up and thought about it for a minute, should I just go home or try 4 more?? Went with 4 more, all hit the rock in about a .3 mil area. Way happy I took the 4 more!
Target rock is just right of the pointy evergreen, in the rock slide.

Re: Accurate rifles suck

I don't think it could be done...the bolt handle is on the wrong side.

Just kidding. Nice shooting. You'll need to put some steels up that hill and take a whack at 'em.

Jim-
Midway shooting mat, and located somewhere in the Palisades? Nice looking spot. My son shot a few rounds with his HS graduation present tonight, a Ruger Hawkeye 300 Win. I tried to do some shooting @ 907 yards, but with the breeze was largely unsuccessful. Dropped back to ~650 with much better results with my .308 Win. Good Shooting!

I was in Louisiana with family. My brother showed me his Glock 19, but other than that, no guns for a week.

Re: Accurate rifles suck at 1073 yards

Jim,
I am glad you are having such good luck with your Rbros rifle. I am considering having them build me a 338 EDGE. Those are 2 very helpful guys. What part of Eastern Washington are you located in? That looks real close to the terrain I live around!! Need to get together and do some long range shooting!!
