I was hoping anyone out there with a 6.5x47 lapua could post velocities they have actually chrono'd themselves. I need this info to help me make educated decisions on my next build.

The barrel length, bullet weight and type of powder used to get your velocity would be a big help!

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

6br has a lot of info
My match rifle was built with alot of reading there

130 JLK from 28" bartlein runs 2975fps @ 58kpsi

mild load so barrel should be last a good while

Get chamber cut so bullet is @ neck junction ie 2.800 witha 10thou jam

Tossing 308 coz well lets face it x47 just spanks it
replacing barrel with 20" chamber @ 2.900 need alil more bolier room running short barrel but it shud make 2850fps

Powder really only one H4350 thou Ramshot hunter would be my second choice

Any 130 gr bullet is perfect for this case

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

Thanks for the info Jedi! I'll see if I can find anything on 6BR tonight.

If anyone else has info, I'd like to see it!

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

26" Kreiger

Scenars

Got 123's to 2975 fps w/RE15 & mag primers 38.5gr.
139's 2840 fps wRE15 & mag primers 37.3gr.

123's to 3000+ fps w/RE17 but no good accuracy.
123's to 2950 fps w/Varget and mag primer 38.5gr.

These were at the top of the range where accuracy and primers live happily together.

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

I run 123 Scenars out of a 25" tube around 2910 fps with Varget. Can get them faster, but this velocity does it for me. Shot a 5-shot group yesterday @ 330 yards that measured a hair under .5". With 1175 rounds down the pipe, accuracy hasn't diminished at all.

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

Stiller action, 30" Krieger barrel, 139 Scenars over RE15 and getting 2841fps average @ 75*. Also ran a friend's load, compressed Ramshot Hunter and didn't chrono it but it was 1 MOA flatter at 600 yards.

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

37.3 gr. Varget, 130 Berger VLD, Wolf SMR, 26" 5C Broughton (suppressed) = 2950 fps.

37.5 gr. Varget, 130 Berger VLD, Wolf SMR, 26" Spencer (suppressed) = 2940 fps.

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

37.5 gr. Varget, 130 Berger VLD, Fed Match, 26" Pac-Nor, 2753 fps. I know it's a slower load but my numbers were good if one cared.D=2 ES=5 with a .295 5 shot group.

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

Border 5R, 28", 8.5, CCI400 or CCI Br4 (quite same velocities, SD lower with Br [< 7m/s with 400, < 4m/s with Br])

Scenar 123gr Moly, N540 : 2,41g [37,2gr] -> 860m/s [2750fps] (middle of Vihta table for that combo)
Scenar 139gr Moly, N150 : 2,39g [36,9gr] -> 840m/s [2820fps] (outside Vihta table : take care)

Both < 1/2MOA@300m, if shooter does his job

Re: ACTUAL 6.5x47 Lapua velocity data needed

28" Brux 1-8" twist on Stiller Predator

The most accurate load was
34.8 g Varget
130 g Berger VLDs
CCI BR4
2750 fps

Not a blazing fast load but was excellant for F-class.
