I've come to realize that I need an extra inch of length on my guns due to the fact that I have a long neck. I have a bunch of B&C Medalists on my Savages and a McMillan A5 on my GAP. I basically need to make each of them 1" longer.

I'll probably send the McMillan stock back to GAP but I'd like to tackle the B&C stocks myself.

What's the appropriate way to get extra LOP on an already finished stock?

go to walmart, costco, etc... but plastic cutting boards... take your recoil pad off... use it as a template to trace a pattern, trace it as many times on the cutting board to equal 1"... cut out and sand to final finish...

voila... homemade spacer system

Interesting. Good idea.

The recoil pads on the B&C and McMillan stock all appear to be glued to the stock -- I can't find any screw holes to remove them, unfortunately.

Is a band saw the proper way to cut the recoil pad off of the stock?

Limbsaver Slip-On Recoil Pad. It comes off when it's not needed, like when you're selling the rifle, and may save you from having to buy a longer rifle case.

Bullshit. Not everyone was born incapable of doing work.

OP, if you need an inch and feel like doing something with your own hands then by all means do what you think is necessary. The worst that can happen is you need some epoxy and chopped fiber and a repaint.

Greg, I truly am an idiot for not considering the obvious. Went out and got one of the slip-on pads and it works great. Gives me the 1" extra LOP I needed and the part the slips onto the stock is covered by the stock pack I use. I've order one of the Pachmayr versions to compare with.

I will definitely order a longer LOP with the next rifle or stock I get.

It's funny how body geometry can affect comfort behind the scope. Hopefully, I can shoot a bit over this coming weekend to verify the extra LOP helps, but from drying firing in prone a bit it looks like it's the ticket for me.

Thanks.
