    Alright,

16” FN CL barrel, mid length gas system, SA adjustable gas block, YHM turbo.

I turned the gas block all the way closed, then opened it up 9 clicks I believe. Brass is ejecting to 3 o clock or so. But when I eject a chambered round it is absolutely covered in soot. See pics. Open it up more? Is this normal?

Anytime I run my YHM suppressor, adj gas or not, the next couple rounds in the magazine are thoroughly coated in soot. I just clean the gun more often and forge ahead.

    Normal

More moisture like water or oil in the gun, mags, ammo can make a difference as well

Cans on AR’s are dirty. Before installing my gas buster on my SBR it would make my eyes water there was so much soot/gas coming back

    Normal

I have a piston AR and when I shoot it suppressed and take the mag out after firing 5 or so rounds the top 3 ish rounds in the mag look similar to the round on the left in your pic. Seems like most of the crud comes back through the barrel.
