Gunsmithing ADL to BDL front action screw

Hey everyone i just received through the mail my new BDL bottom metal from Randy at R&D Precision and just beautiful. The prob is i have been waiting for a BDL front action screw to change my R700 ADL into a B&C A3 stock. I won't say who I ordered from but heres the question. Can I go to Ace Hardware or Home Depot and get the same screw if someone could tell me the size? Or is it a special screw. Thanks again as I would love to get to the range tomorrow morning.

is 1 1/4" long. I measured my front screw and its 1 1/4 and when i put the stock together it screws and tightens pretty good. Everywhere I saw stated I would need the replacement front screw. I just have that feeling like somethings is screwy or I am just being paranoid.

Its 1/4-28 threads and I got mine at ACE. Also, I get them like 2 or 2-1/2 inches and trim to fit.

The front and rear screws should be the same between the BDL and ADL. If you get at least three turns into the threads you should be fine with the torque needed. More then likely if you are going to have a problem it will be too long.

The cap screws from the hardware store are not correct and were not meant to be used for factory type bottom metal. Simply looking at the factory screw and the bottom metal should explain why. Yes the military at one time use cap screws for some M40 builds using BDL type bottom metal but it wasn't because it was designed for them.
