Adopt a Sniper

I am currently a Sniper Team leader for 1st ID; I am facing a deployment to Afghanistan. My team is getting some gear but unfortunately just not enough, we are getting support from our command but just not enough. Right after I became a sniper I was told by a couple different sources that there is a program called "Adopt a Sniper" that would help you get gear without you having to come out of pocket for it, anybody know anything like this? Any info would help, Thanks.

I am not familiar with the program you are referring to but what do you and your team need that you don't have? Also, when will you actually deploy?

I could compile a list if necessary but I have as of yet not; mainly it would be stuff to make us more efficient, we have the bear necessity but anything that would make my guys more comfortable or better at our job due to being higher quality, would all have to come out of pocket. I am basically asking if there are any programs that would be willing to support my team so the guys can get some gear that makes them happier. Sounds weak I know, but if it can happen then I will sign on. Due to opsec I will not tell when I am deploying, I can say it is very soon.

Yeah, we got a bunch of MICH helmets from them when we were in country, so you're on the right track. I'm not sure how you get a hold of them, but I'll do some checking for you.

I would work with the BN S-4 OIC, we were able to get the additional funding pre-deployment via gov credit cards and essentially got to order whatever we wanted, Mark 4 Spotters, tripods, 2 raptors, 1 thermal, drag bags etc etc. No offense but a guys first post asking how to get more gear for a sniper team screams fishy so expect flak. Also deployment date is not opsec violation unless you said you were in X platoon, X BN, X brigade, leaving out of X airfield

s-4 is getting held up in Div, we got a batch of bolt guns and they were all tore up, cracked stocks, scopes for 168gr bad scope mounts ect, battalion sent up the word and was shut down. Battalion would get us what we wanted if they could get it through div...
