Enlighten me if there is any other advantages other than case capacity for higher velocity…

No longer has to be fireformed since high quality factory brass is available from more than one source.

Like many things, we borrow from other disciplines (and they borrow from ours and others).

The dasher was originally designed for varmint shooting. With the distances relatively far and targets relatively small, one can see why good varmint cartridges would make good F and BR cartridges and vice versa.

In those disciplines, you’re shooting off a bench or prone at small targets. So recoil isn’t much of a concern. Also, mo speed = mo betta when you’re talking small targets and not shooting off barricades. Generally speaking that is. More so than when shooting 2moa targets off props.

Dasher eventually found its way to PRS when speed was still being chased. Reference everyone running 6cm @ 3100.

This was the same concept when people were thinking gas guns were going to be the way to go for the speed aspect.

As with many things, shooters found out some things were and some things weren’t what they expected. As with the gas gun going the way of the dodo, we are now realizing that with ~2moa targets, the speed is less important than recoil and/or seeing trace and such. So, a fair amount of top shooters are now slowing back down to BR speeds. Which as an ancillary benefit, we get more barrel life.

There’s a conversation to be had about 40deg vs 30deg shoulder for feeding and length trimming things.

But, overall the intent of dasher was to increase speed and in our specific discipline (at least currently) speed is not being chased.
