Advice On Best 338 Improved

[338SAL]

I have a 338 Lapua 28" barrel pushing 2750fps. Would like something a little faster. I have a 30" Lilja 1-10 Twist, #8 Contour at the smiths right now. I would like some opinions on which version of 338 Improved would get me close to 3000fps. Thanks in advance.

What bullet are you shooting? 300 SMK, or Scenar?

I would look at your reloading data. I am driving the 300 SMK in my AIAWSM 338LM with a 1:11" twist 27" barrel at 2770 fps. Also, how far do you want to push this projo?

338 edge. very fast. not really an improved but very fast and easy to make.

A 338 EDGE with a 30" tube will get you to 2850fps but not 3000.
You will need to look at the 338-378 Weatherby or 338 Lapua AI, but they will get you to 2900-2950
338-408 AI will get you to 3150-3200 with the 300gr SMK

Thanks everyone,
The 338 Lapua AI is probably what I will go with. I know there are several variations of this. I already have 200 Lapua cases, so will probably stick with it.
I am not planning on shooting any further than I already do with the 338 Lapua. Would like to push it a little faster and flatter. 2900-2950fps sounds fine to me.

I just had my edge out this weekend and got 2930 out of a 300 smk over 93.5 gr of H1000.

I have a 338-378 with a Lilja 34 inch 1 in 10 twist tube. I shoot 300 SMK at 3050 with 107 grains 5010 in 30 degrees F. It actually shoot a tighter group at 2950 though.
