Sad morning in the Old Dominion. Born here and lived most of my 66 years here. I have seen the political environment change numerous times through the years. For the most part, our politics during most the last 10 years or so have in the middle but trending left. During the last four years we have lost our minds. Northern Virginia essentially has grown so large that it has monolithic control of the politics of this state. Add in most of the tidewater area, Richmond, and the Roanoke area, and I truly believe we have gone past the point of return. The democrats now have complete control of this state and have made it clear what they intend to do. As someone else posted, we are gong to become the New Jersey of the south if not worse. Virginia used to be a great place to live...I truly feel like crying but that is childish and would do no good.

Ok, I have vented. Seriously, I truly believe that I have not exaggerated the situation in Virginia. My wife and I do not believe that we can stay here if governor black face and the democrat party pass the initiatives they have stated they intend to pass. I am seeking advice on states that are favorable to our beliefs, morals, and character (my wife has character). We would like someplace that has decent weather (I am dealing with significant arthritis issues--bad gene pool), decent home prices, favorable taxes, churches, and of course one that is gun friendly. In short, a place that will leave us the "H" alone as long as I pay my taxes and don't break the law.

My wife's parents lived in Clearwater Florida for many years and we like that area and are looking at homes in there but we both fear that Florida is only a few years if that behind Virginia. My daughter is an attorney (we thought we raised her better) and lives in Austin Texas. It is too liberal and growing too fast for us. Would not mind being within driving distance of my daughter but would want to live in a conservative area. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The union is in decline. I have watched my brothers and sisters move out of this state for the same reason you want to leave Virginia now (good reasons) and the problems they ran from followed them to their new homes. We can run but we can't hide for very long. I'd leave Illinois as well but my 88 YO mom can't go anywhere so I'll stay until she passes.

But there is no where to run really. I'll likely stay here until they put me in jail for not complying with gun confiscation.

There's not many places to run to and in a few years/decades it'll be everywhere unless some States secede and make a new country. New times are upon US and we won't vote our way out of it. All I can do is resist and try to control the crash that is inevitable.

I love Clearwater area but I too think that it’s only one or two state elections away from going full tilt blue.

I’d say go to NW Florida but you still have the fact the whole state will go deep blue.

You could always go to Mobile or Dothan if you need to be close to the salt water.

I hear ya Brother. I, too, live behind enemy lines of Illinois (South/Central Illinois, NOT Chicago). Having 2 sons, 2 small grandchildren and 78 year old mother here in Illinois, it's hard to leave. However, in 2 years, 9 months and 26 days (not that I'm counting), I'm getting the fuck out of this communist state. I'll likely go to SoMo (within 4-ish hrs of our grandchildren) and most likely take Mom with us.

I agree on the 'nowhere to run.' Even, IMO, a place like Mo, while it may be more conservative thinking, in the event of a nuke strike, one central US hit takes out Mo.

I'll just go back to Dad's words, "If it's time to bury them, it's time to use them."

I have lived in Tampa for the better part of 30 years and just love it here. You are correct we are 2 steps from becoming CA 2.0 and had Andrew Gillum won the governors race we might already be rounding 2nd base. You should read the platform of our new progressive mayor.....she is essentially a Bloomberger laced with AOC-isms.

To that end my parents sold their home here in FL last May party b/c they see the end coming for the great run we have had in FL. They are renting this year, but are ready to pull the plug the day we go full balls into the anus of liberalism...just easy to cut bait when you rent. I hate to think about leaving, but I will when the time comes. As for now it's still a great way of life for my needs and I'm here until.....well....start the egg timer is my suspicion.

I've been lucky, I've traveled to all 50 states and across most of Canada, either in my jeep or on a bike.
I must say, I like Colorado/Wyoming/Utah/Montana best. If I moved, Wyoming might get the nod.

That said, at some point, every man ought to decide the tipping point and what to do about it. I know what California is (as is New York or Illinois) and wouldn't move there, but if/when this comes to my State, I'd very likely stand my ground. It is not what I, nor what any sane person would want.
 
Plenty of nice places in driving distance of Austin. Marble Falls, Dripping Springs, Fredricksberg and many many more. Pretty much any town in the hill country that is more than 15 miles from the city will suit you fine. We just passed a proposition yesterday that prohibits them from ever adding a state income tax.

Yes, the Hill country is nice, owned a small ranch S. of Rocksprings, and a place in Llano. Problem is, Austin, Houston and DFW, are turning blue faster than you can piss in Bloomberg's mouth and the population of those 3 (and San Antonio) control the vote. The leftists have already stated that they have NY and Ca. and with Tx. They'll have the 3 most populous states. I fear Texas will follow before long.

We ain't gonna vote our Way out of what's coming. The best we can do is control the crash and deal with life as it seems at the time. Nobody is gonna change anybodies mind or compromise. Both sides hate the other and will not compromise. It's like when a married couple just can't make it work anymore, they get a divorce and go do their own thing.

The US has been fabulous for 240 years. In modern times this is a record. It's been a great run but it's time to start a new game. If you think Republicans are gonna fix it for ya, or Trump, or Biden, or Pelosi, or McConnell then you need to side with them. Personally? They are all rich fuck million/billionaires and they will *all* see US disarmed, scattered, and divided against each other so that their Global Oligarch Bosses can fleece America of our 401K's, Retirement Savings, Pensions, Homes, College Funds, and personal savings. America is owned and operated by Global Billionaires and they *will have* your wealth by buying our Representation for pennies on the dollar. But first they have to get the guns in the dirt.

Can you expound on that a bit beyond casting my vote? How am I going to turn the tide against a conservative population that is being outbred at a frenetic pace and is expected to be the minority by as early as 2038? I'd love to know what else I can do!

I'm not ready to give up, but trying to educate the electorate at the rate they are being dumbed down by not only the educational system, but the media is way beyond my known skill sets. When over 60% of Millenials are not saving any money b/c they believe the world will be gone b/f they can retire....some think it's 12 years. How do you combat that kind of stupidity?

For anyone who tries to get through to these younger folks this is a fantastic free publication from Hillsdale College called Imprimus. I've signed up probably 50 people in the last 25 years on this and it's turned a few people over from the dark side. There are 2 things which I find shut people down quickly in conversations: politics and financial literacy. Either from discomfort sharing their views or lack of knowledge.....this is a great way to get both across where they can do it in 'safety'. Did I just say that? If discussions end up with them lashing out b/c they don't like being challenged or don't have a rebuttal typically the conversations go nowhere.....maybe if they read something and let it simmer in private it can sink in. Imprimis has the greatest conservative minds published monthly on current events I wait for it like a dog on a treat!

I swear. Stay and fight. Quit running. All of you will run out of places to go. It’s about to get real, real fast. VA ain’t the only place that’s probably going to turn and enact some BS. These people either by strategy or otherwise are leaving states and moving to free states and then voting the same bullshit that they just left. We have to make a stand of some sort and quite running all the damn time. Get out and get active, educate, protest whatever. Seems to work to sway public opinion for the other side!

Floridians just naively hastened their state's demise by voting to allow felons to vote, and it's estimated to be 1.2 million of them. I can understand the left voting for that, but anyone who leans Republican should've voted against it because of the obvious real world ramifications of such crazy policy.

I must say that I know how you feel brother, but that's what they want you to do. Incrementally they will come for every state if we run.
The truth of the matter is that we need those who've left years ago to return and fight this enemy.
I want my kids to at least know that we gave it all we had trying to preserve our freedoms. We must pressure every politician win or lose. Standing together is the only way.

Just a guess on my part, but I believe the calculus changes once they try wholesale confiscation. Stupid ass blanket bans just grow the black market for the banned items (see prohibition). Confiscation takes it to another level and all of the sudden, the unthinkable is suddenly possible...it’s a simple flight or fight response and flight-wise, we are running out of space and time.

I know what I’m going to do if/when a confiscation agent shows up at my door (hint: it doesn’t involve handing over anything)..Again, just a guess but I think more of us feel like me than you may think.

I spend more on my children's education than some folks make, so it's not like I'm standing here asking why the gov ain't doing a better job of sowing doubt about gov into my children. We believe in God and know from the written Word what's happening here.

What are you doing to make your vote count 10x the 3rd word trash we're importing or our 'native' 3rd world trash we're paying to breed? Face it, it's fucking over at the ballet box. What's next? What's your plan that doesn't involve stacking bodies?

we were warned about it a long time ago. but the ideological subversion did not just come from the USSR, it came from our MSM, movies, and tv shows. And after the USSR imploded, sadly we let our guard down and allowed the subversion to ramp up until we got to the point where we are today. and what we have going on here will end up like 1917, if we dont figure out a way to stop it.

I never thought this way until recently, because I was always a classical/conservative historian, but I realize now that the USSR was a front. After a while, it ceased to carry out it's job the way it was directed (the methods became decrepit, and the propaganda wore thin), so the rug was yanked out. Right afterwards we got the "new world order" that planned to take everyone towards the same goal of global socialism, just under the fake banner of 'western' democracy, equality, and tolerance. Either way, everyone is following the piper and the end result will be total control, an omnipotent government, and no freedom for the masses of dumb sheep, while the chosen aristocracy rules as if they were little gods.

I'm sure some of my new neighbors will treat me with distrust, and frankly I can't blame them.
Yeah, I'm de-assing my 25 year AO asap, no apologies. My reasons are my own, and they are not all political.
Fact is there are lots of people like myself who are being pushed farther from the cities.

It will eventually reach an equilibrium.
